Tri-C Men's Basketball defeats Edison, 100-73
The Tri-C men's basketball team tangled with the Chargers of Edison State Community College for about 10 minutes befor taking command of the contest.. The Chargers kept it close in the first half and were tied with the Tops at 24 about midway through the half. The Tops had a great burst to end the half and went into the break leading 43-37. The second half was all Tops as they outscored the Chargers, 57-36. It was evident that Coach Nixon made some great halftime adjustments as the Tops cruised in the second half with everyione getting into the action.
Devin Haid led all scores with 18, followed by Manny Hill with 16 and Jordan Persad with 13. Hill and Haid both had 8 rebounds and Persad also chipped in with 9 assists on the day. The second half barrage included two corner threes from Hill, and Haid scoring 16 of his 18 in the deciding second-half. Tallice Landers (9 pts) added his sharp shooting from long range as did Ronik Grewal. Nehki Smith and Tyishawn Smiley finished with nine and eight respectively, and Tyler Montague came off the bench to provide eight points.
The Tops move to 14-3 on the season and 4-1 in OCCAC play.
The men are back in action for the first of two cross county meetings with the conference leading #12 Lakers of Lakeland Community College (13-3, 6-0 OCCAC) in Kirkland on 18 Jan 2023. The tip-off is set for 7:30pm. The Tops then return home for a crucial OCCAC rematch with Hocking College at the Metro Gymnsasium at 1 pm on Saturday.
