The Tri-C men's basketball team could not overcome early foul trouble and poor rebounding in their loss to the #20 Mott Community College Bears on 17 Dec 2022. Tyishawn Smiley began the game with a foul and that proved to be the theme of the night. The Bears went to the charity stripe 35 times compared to 13 for the Tops. The Bears also out rebounding the visitors by eight. The Tops had five double-digit scorers, but it was not enough as the Bears proved too much and snapped a three-game skid with an 87-76 win on their home floor.
The Tops were led in scoring by Devin Haid's 18. Manny Hill tossed in 16, while Nehki Smith had 15. Both Tyishawn Smiley and Jordan Persad also scored in double-digits with 11 and 10 respectively. Smith was the leading rebounder with seven and Persad led the team in assist with seven.
The men have time to lick their wounds as they prepare to travel to Wayne Community College on 7 January 2023. This will be the first game of the new year and the team will be seeking to get back to their winning ways.
