Tri-C Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss at Hocking 92-84

The Tops took to the court for their OCCAC opener in Nelsonville, OH on Wednesday night against the Hawks of Hocking College.  Hocking was coming off a 24-2 campaign a year ago while Tri-C came into the game a perfect 8-0.

It was a back and forth first half that ended with Tri-C trailing 40-33.  In the second half it looked as if the Hawks would run away with the game leading by as many as 17 but the Tops battled back but in the end couldn't close the gap and lost their first game of the season 92-84.

Devin Haid was on fire, leading the team with 35 points and 12 rebounds while Nekhi Smith chipped in with 13 points and 9 boards.  Manny Hill (11 points) and Tyishawn Smiley (11 pts) were the other two Tops in double figures.  Point guard, Jordan Persad, led the team in assists with 5.

The Tops fall to 0-1 in the OCCAC, and 8-1 overall with a key Region XII Meeting with Top 20 Macomb College on 12/2.

The team will play at home on Wednesday, December 7th against Lorain CC as part of a women's/men's doubleheader with the men's game scheduled to start about 7:30 pm,
