Weekend Wrap Up: Baseball goes 2-2 on the weekend

The Tri-C Baseball team went 2-2 over the course of 4 games this weekend.

Game 1 vs. Lorain CC

The Tops defeated the Commodores 27-5 in 5 innings on Saturday.  Mason Koons, Kyle Koehler, Carter Gast, Carter Blakeman and Silas Moore all had three hits for the Tops. Blakeman, Braden Reed and Koons all homered in the win.  Koons had 5 RBI's and Reed and Blakeman had 4 each.  On the mound, Dylan Hatfield went the distance scattering 6 hits, giving up only 3 earned runs, striking out 5 and walking only 1.

Game 2 vs. Lorain CC

Tri-C defeated Lorain in the nightcap of Saturday's doulbleheader, 17-10.  Collecting multiple hits were Braden Reed (5), Mason Koons (4), and Cole Archual (2).  Archual and Jake Downey both went deep for the Tops.  Zac Tizzano got the start and win and went 2 1/3 striking out 4 while giving up only 3 hits.  Also contributing on the mound were Trent Barstow and Riley McElwain.

Sunday

Game 1 vs. Ivy Tech

The Tri-C Baseball team fell behind early and could not get the go ahead run as they dropped a tight 6-5 decision to regional opponent Ivy Tech, 6-5 in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday afternoon.  Braden Reed and Silas Moore each had two hit games for the Tops.  Sloan Ulrich got the start and went 5 innings to keep the Tops in it.  Layton O'Rourke took the loss on the day as he gave up the 6th run.

Game 2 vs. McHenry County College

Another tight game but the Tops again couldn't get the tying run across depsite having multiple opportunities.  Ty Pangborn got the start and he went 5 innings and gave up 5 runs on 5 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2.  Collecting multiple hits were: Mason Coons (3), Carter Gast (2), Kyle Koehler (2), Jake Downey (2), and Jacob Connery (2).

 

The team will travel to Westmoreland CC Monday for a doubleheader.
