Tri-C Baseball Gets Road Sweep Over Terra State

The Tri-C Baseball team won their 5th game in a row by sweeping OCCAC foe, Terra State at Sports Force Park in Sandusky by scores of 6-5 and 12-5.

 

Game 1 Highlights

After trailing for much of the game, a costly error by the Titans gave Tri-C the lead in the top of the 6th and they held one to get the victory.  The Tops earned the victory despite allowing Terra to score 3 runs in the 2nd inning.  Mason Koons, Jake Downey and Saveonne Mayo all had key RBI's for the Tops.  Reigning OCCAC Pitcher of the Week, Ty Pangborn was again masterful in relief, going 4 innings, striking out 8 and not giving up a hit or run to get the win.  Kris Jenkins gave the Tops 3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 5 runs while striking out 2.  Slias Moore, Downey and Koons all had 2 hits in the game.

 

Game 2 Highlights

Tri-C got off to a 3-1 lead through 2 innings but Terra fought back and made it a 5-4 Tops lead after three.  After that the Tops put the hammer down and surrendered only one more run in the 7th while adding seven of their own runs to take the 12-5 victory.  John Nhem earned the win for Tri-C, going two innings, allowing three hits and three runs with two strikouts.  It was a full staff game as Ricardo Medrano, Layton O'Rourke, Jackson Judy and Trent Barstow all got some work in on the moung.  At the plate, Braden Reed, Jake Downey, Austy Kazmierczak and Conor Bozak all had multiple hit games.  Kyle Koehler continued his power surge by hitting his 4th homerun in three games.  Overall the Tops had 15 hits on the day.

 

Tri-C will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday to take on regional rival, Ivy Tech in a key doubleheader. Game times are at 1 and 3:30 pm.
