Triceratops Show Grit but Fall to Owens CC, 70–62

The Triceratops showed grit and determination on their home floor but ultimately fell to the Express of Owens CC, 70–62, on 14 January 2026. The loss moves the Triceratops to 13–4 on the season, but the effort reflected the resilience and competitiveness that have defined their strong campaign.

Owens CC set the tone early, racing out to a 9–0 lead before Summer Peterson halted the run with a three-pointer. The Triceratops steadily regrouped, sparked by La'Nia Moore's immediate impact off the bench as she converted back-to-back baskets to keep the deficit within reach. Despite the slow start, the Triceratops closed the opening quarter trailing just 17–13, with Peterson accounting for five early points.

Hayley Stoddard took control in the second quarter, scoring six points during the period as the Triceratops continued to chip away at the Express' lead. Her efficient performance—finishing 7-of-12 from the field for a team-high 15 points—helped keep the game competitive heading into halftime, with Owens CC holding a 35–27 advantage.

Stoddard stayed hot in the third quarter, adding another six points and delivering a key stretch of consecutive baskets that helped slow the Express' momentum. While the Express maintained control entering the final period, the Triceratops never wavered.

The fourth quarter highlighted the team's fighting spirit. Moore was outstanding down the stretch, scoring six points in the final frame to finish with 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Tylia Parker also delivered in key moments, adding four fourth-quarter points and closing the night with 12 points while shooting an efficient 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. Despite a late push, the Triceratops were unable to complete the comeback.

Though the result didn't go their way, the Triceratops' perseverance, balanced scoring, and relentless effort underscored the character that has fueled their success all season.

The Triceratops return to action on 21 January 2026, when they host the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at East Campus Gymnasium, located at 4250 Richmond Road, Highland Hill, OH 44122.
