Macomb Rallies Past Triceratops for First Cuyahoga Loss, 68-63

The Triceratops suffered their first loss of the season Saturday, falling 68-63 to Macomb Community College after being outscored 43-30 in the final two quarters. The defeat provided Cuyahoga with a glimpse of the championship-level competition that awaits in Region XII.

La'Nia Moore paced the Triceratops with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, dominating the first half with 13 points, including a personal three-basket run in the second quarter. Summer Peterson added 14 points on four three-pointers, including back-to-back treys in the third quarter that pushed the lead to 40-30. Hayley Stoddard chipped in 10 points on efficient 5-of-7 shooting.

The game turned in the final minutes of the third quarter when Macomb closed on a 9-0 run to grab a 47-46 lead entering the fourth. Despite Peterson's clutch shooting down the stretch, the Monarchs maintained control as Cuyahoga's offense sputtered.

  • Cuyahoga failed to record an assist for the first time this season
