The Tri-C Women's Basketball team rolled together a 3-0 week this past week as they defeated OCCAC opponents in all three contests.
Thursday, Jan. 18th
The Tops defeated rival Lakeland, 70-58 behind a monster game from Quimari Shelton, who finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Tori Smith with 12 and Marybella Dunlap with 10. Briana Bunkley from her guard position also had 10 rebounds.
Wednesday, Jan. 24th
The Tops traveled to Terra State and handed the Titans a 79-25 defeat. The story of the game was the second half defense. The Tops led at half 25-19 and held the Titans to only 6 second half points. Again, Shelton was dominant with 22 points and 20 boards but she had plenty of company as Briana Bunkley scored 19 points and added 5 assists, Marybella Dunlap had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Tori Smith chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Zarina Fader came off the bench for 10 points.
Saturday, Jan. 27th
In a wild shootout, the Tops prevailed in a hostile environment over the Hawks on the road, 65-62. For the third straight game, Quimari Shelton was dominant with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Others that contributed in the big win were: Dunlap with 8 points and 12 rebounds, Tori Smith with 8 points and 11 rebounds and Briana Bunkley with 9 points.
The Tops are now 12-7 on the season and 3-1 in OCCAC play with a rematch at home Wednesday evening against Hocking at the Metro Gymnasium at 5:30 pm.
