In their first game since the appointment of new co-head coaches, Dion Griffin and Jasmine Frierson, the Women's Basketball team defeated rival Lakeland at the Eastern Campus Gymnasium on Thursday evening, 70-58.
The Tops fell behind 14-11 after one quarter but they showed true grit and defeated the Lakers to improve their record to 10-7 on the season and even up their OCCAC record at 1-1.
In her return to the home court, Quimari Shelton had a monster game with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Also in double digit scoring were: Tori Smith with 12 points and Marybella Dunlap with 10. Brianna Bunkley had 10 rebounds and 5 steals.
With tomorrow's scheduled game against Edison already postponed the Tops will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Terra to take ont he 1-13 Titans.
