Phillips earns NFCA NJCAA Division II First-Team All-Region honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (athletics.tri-c.edu) – The National Fastpitch Coaching Association has named Tri-C pitcher Julee Phillips (So./Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) as an NJCAA Division II First-Team All-Region pitcher today, May 18.
Phillips has been outstanding in the circle this season, anchoring the Triceratops' pitching staff that ranks first in Region 12 with a 2.10 ERA and second in the region with 287 strikeouts.
On her own, Phillips has a 0.32 ERA, which ranks second in the nation. Her 208 strikeouts are fifth in the nation. Adjusting for innings pitched, Phillips's strikeouts per seven innings (K/7) is 10.95, the fourth best mark in the nation among pitchers with at least 100 innings and one above Edison State's Marissa Pine.
Phillips has been a key part of the Triceratops' success, taking home NJCAA Region 12 Tournament MVP after pitching all 19 innings without allowing a single earned run and striking out 17 batters. She was named First-Team All-OCCAC earlier today for the second consecutive season – one of four players in the conference to earn that distinction and one of three Tri-C players.
National honors have also come in for Phillips, who won NJCAA Pitcher of the Week two times this season.
The full regional teams can be found in the NFCA's release.
