Triceratops Edge Express 87-81 Behind Abraham's Double-Double

The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Triceratops bounced back from their two-game losing streak in dominant fashion, boasting three 20-plus point scorers in their 87-81 road win over the Owens Community College Express. With the victory over Owens, the Triceratops are now 12-6 on the season, and 8-2 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play.

Leading the way for the Triceratops was freshman guard Chase Abraham, who had a double-double with 27 points on 75 percent shooting along with a team-best 12 rebounds. Joining Abraham in the 20-plus club for the Triceratops were Tyson Garner (20) and John McFadden (24). The trio gave Tri-C the edge in the scoring department and also made a major impact all over the floor, combining for 27 rebounds, nine assists, four steals, and one block.

However, despite the strong scoring efforts from the Triceratops trio, defense was the key to victory over the Express. The Triceratops held Maceo Harper, the Express' leading scorer, to only 14 points on 33.3 percent shooting, setting the tone and ensuring that Owens' lead scoring threats were unable to find a rhythm. The Triceratops held Daylen Green, Owens' second-leading scorer, to four points on 0-7 shooting, and Gardayee Walker, the Express' third-leading scorer, to eight points on 4-7 shooting.

Overall, the Triceratops held the Express to 21.4 percent from three-point range and only allowed 13 opportunities at the free-throw line. The two-way attack schemed by head coach Aaron Nixon gave the Triceratops the edge and, more importantly, kept the Triceratops atop the OCCAC standings, just in reach of Lakeland Community College for first-place in the conference.

Up next: After their strong win over Owens, the Triceratops will look to continue their momentum against Lakeland Community College on February 4, 2026, the fourth contest of their seven-game road trip. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM at Lakeland 7700 Clocktower Dr, Kirtland, OH 44094.
