Haid Repeats as OCCAC Player of the Week
For the second straight week Devin Haid has been named as the OCCAC Player of the Week. In two victories this past week, Haid scored 40 points, had 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. He went 14 of 15 from the free throw line while shooting 57% from the field.
Haid was also named as last week's NJCAA Division II Player of the Week. The Tops hold a 19-4 overall record and are in 2nd place in the OCCAC (8-2) and among those receiving votes in the most recent Top 20 Poll. Lakeland (17-4, 10-1) leads the league and is ranked 12th.
Tri-C has two important OCCAC road games this week. Wednesday they will travel to Lorain to take on a very dangerous Commodore team at 7:30 and Saturday they will make the trek to Perrysburg to play Owens at 1 pm. They also will play a matinee on Sunday with a noon non-conference game against Detroit Community Christian College who boasts the 3rd leading scorer in NJCAA Division II in Joseph Francis who averages better than 24 point per game.
If the Tops can take care of business this week, this will set up a big showdown, Wednesday, February 15th when they will host Lakeland at 7:30 at the Metro Campus Gymnasium. This willl also be Ben Wallace Jersey Retirement Day as Ben will be in attendance to see his jersey retired at halftime of the men's game.
