The Tri-C men's basketball team dropped their second game in a week after an 8-0 start at Macomb on 2 December 2022 by a score of 68 -66.
Devin Haid lead all Tops in scoring with 20 points including 5 of 6 from the foul line. Manny Hill finished with 14 points and Nekhi Smith was the other double-digit scorer with 11 along with his team-leading three assists. The Monarchs were ahead by as many as 20 points. The Tops never let up and almost stole an early-season non-conference road game.
A few foul calls that didn't go Tri-C's way put the Tops at a disadvantage. The Tops still looked primed to steal the victory but a last-second heave by Tyishawn Smiley was short and the Tops dropped to 8 -2 (0 -1 in the conference).
The men return home on 7 December at 5:30 pm (Marion Sterling Day) to take on Lorain Community College at the Metro Gym. The Commodores currently sit at 4 -2 while receiving national votes as a top NJCAA Division III team. The game is free and open to the public.
