Driedger's Grand Slam Sets the Tone, But Titans Even the Series in the Nightcap
Friday, 20 March 20 vs. Terra State Community College
Game 1 | Triceratops 9, Titans 5
The Triceratops wasted little time imposing their will in the opener, erupting for a seven-run third inning that blew the game wide open and put the Titans on their heels for the remainder of the contest. The big blow of the frame, and the game came off the bat of Nash Driedger, who got all of a pitch and deposited a grand slam that sent the dugout into a frenzy and essentially served as the knockout punch.
Jackson Boles continued to apply pressure in the middle of the lineup, driving in three runs and proving to be a consistent run-producer that opposing pitching staffs must account for. Once the Triceratops grabbed the lead in that pivotal third frame, they never looked back playing clean, disciplined baseball the rest of the way to secure the series opener.
Game 2 | Terra State 3, Triceratops 2
The nightcap told a completely different story. The Titans' starter locked in from the first pitch, working a complete game and holding the Triceratops offense in check throughout the contest. The Triceratops struggled to generate any sustained offensive production unable to string together quality at-bats and failing to find the barrel consistently against a pitcher who commanded all quadrants of the strike zone.
Credit where it is due the Titans executed their game plan to perfection in Game 2, and the Triceratops will use the film from this outing as a valuable learning opportunity heading into Saturday's action.
