'Tops Baseball Sweeps Region XII Powerhouse Lansing Community College

PARMA, Ohio — March 15, 2026 — Cuyahoga Community College (TRI-C) Baseball delivered an impressive Sunday performance, sweeping NJCAA Region XII powerhouse Lansing Community College in a doubleheader at Ron Mottl Field at Tri-C West Campus.The Triceratops used a combination of explosive offense and timely pitching to secure 23-5 and 5-3 victories, showcasing depth throughout the lineup and on the mound.

TRI-C's offense erupted in the opener, highlighted by a dominant day from Sophomore, Patrick Farrell, who blasted two home runs and drove in five runs to lead a 23-run outburst. The 'Tops flipped an early Lansing lead with a massive 10-run first inning, punctuated by Freshman, Nash Driedger's grand slam, and never looked back. TRI-C piled up 13 hits, drew 12 walks, and swiped six bases while also turning three double plays defensively.

In the second game, the 'Tops showed resilience in a tightly contested battle. Sophomore, Kohan Merritt sparked the offense with a home run, while Sophomore, Vinny Gallaher and Freshman, Zeylen Yanmaz delivered key RBI hits late to push TRI-C ahead for good in the sixth inning of the 5-3 victory.

On the mound, Sophomore, Ryan Torok set the tone with three strong innings in game two, while Sophomore, David Moore earned the win in relief. Sophomore, Keagan Gilbride picked up the victory in the opener, helping anchor a pitching staff that held Lansing in check throughout the day.

TRI-C received strong contributions across the lineup, with Gallaher, Merritt, and Yanmaz producing key hits and RBIs, while the Tops' disciplined approach at the plate and aggressive baserunning created constant pressure on the Lansing defense.

TRI-C hopes to return to action Tuesday against Baldwin Wallace (OH) as the 'Tops look to carry the momentum from a statement sweep over one of the region's top programs.
