Tops take 3 of 4 from Terra

The Tops Baseball team took three of four games from the Terra State Titans over the weekend.  The Tops swept the two games on Saturday, 25-14 and 12-4 and split the Sunday game at Terra, losing 5-3 and winning 12-8.

 

Saturday Game 1  Tops 25  Titans 14

In a wild game where the score resembled a football scorer the Tops came out on Tops, 25-13.  Braden Reed, Brendan Hazuda, Garrett Grinstead all collected three hits for the Tops, while Carter Gast, Grinstead and Jon Yakovic all went deep for the Tops.  Grinstead also had 4 RBIs, while Hazuda and Gast each had 3.  Tri-C put together 18 hits on the day. Layton O'Rourke got the win on the day goin 4 innings, giving up just 3 hits and 1 earned run.

Saturday Game 2  Tops 12 Titans 4

The Tops hot bats carried on into game 2 on Saturday as Silas Moore, Mason Koons, Braden Reed, Garrett Grinstead, Brendan Hazuda, Carter Gast and Adrian Harrison all collected multiple hits. The power came alive too as Koons, Gast, Conner Bozak and Grinstead all went deep.  Koons contributed 5 RBI's on the day.  Ty Pangborn got the win with 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs while striking out 8.

Sunday Game 1  Tops 3   Titans 5

The Tops traveled to Sports Force Park in Sandusky  on a cold snowy day and the bats never heated up in game 1 as they fell 5-3.  Tri-C only mustered 4 hits in the game and only 1 (2B by Bozak) extra base hit.  Grinstead had 2 RBI's to pace the Tops.  Jackson Judy took the loss going 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) while striking out 7.

Sunday Game 2  Tops 12  Titans 8

Tri-C bats woke up in the 2nd game of the road trip as they put together 13 hits, scoring 4 runs in each of the first three innings to defeat the Titans 12-8.  Brendan Hazuda collected three hits and had three RBI's and Braden Reed, Carter Gast and Cole Archual also had multiple hits for the Tops.  Koons had 3 RBI's on the day and Gast and Grinstead each chipped in with 2.  Koons blasted another HR for the Tops.  Skyler Kries got the win on the mound, going 4 and 2/3 scattering 7 hits and 6 runs but only 1 earned while striking out 5.  

 

Tops will resume their schedule (weather permitting) hosting a doubleheader with University of Mount Union (JV) on Wednesday.
