Game 1
Bryant & Stratton (OH)
The Tri-C Baseball team swept a doubleheader last night against a tough Bryant and Stratton Bobcat squad.
Game 1 W 7-6
Things looked bleak for the Tops as they entered the bottom of the 7th trailing 6-4. Jake Downey led off the inning with a single up the middle. Kyle Koehler hit into a fielder's choice for the first out. Carter Blakeman then singled to left, putting Tops on first and second and bringing the go ahead run to the plate in the form of pinch hitter Saveonne Mayo. Mayo singled to right to load the bases. Braden Reed then singled to left to tie the game driving in Koehler and Jon Yakovic, who was pinch running, to tie the game. Cole Archual, also pinch running, advanced to third putting the winning run 90 feet away. After a pitching change, Connor Bozak was hit by a pitch to load the bases once again. Silas Moore then worked the count full and drew a walk to drive in the winning run for the Tops. Gavin Mangus got the win on the mound as he worked 1 and 2/3 innings striking out 3. Braden Reed led the Tops with 3 hits and 3 RBI's while Blakeman and Bozak also had multiple hits. Kyle Koehler hit his 7th homerun of the season.
Game 2 W 10-1
Skylar Kries was masterful on the mound as he went the distance giving up only 3 hits and striking out 10. Mason Koons had three hits, while Silas Moore, Carter Gast, Kyle Koehler and Jacob Connery all had two. Jake Downey hit his 5th homerun of the season and had 4 RBIs.
The Tops move to 28-8 overall and 21-1 in the OCCAC and have clinched the OCCAC top seed for the Regional Playoffs and will host a three game series. The Tops have two games remaining with Bryant and Stratton and have the opportunity to win the conference outright depending on what Owens CC does in their final 4 games of the season.
