The Triceratops Baseball team continues to roll with their 9th straight win with a two game sweep of the Edison State Chargers in frigid conditions.
Game 1 W 11-2
In what is becoming commonplace, Layton O'Rourke was masterful on the mound picking up the win with a complete game, 6 hit, 6 strikeout performance. His control was on point as he gave up no walks. The Tops jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three and never looked back. At the plate, Mason Koons continues his hot hitting with a 3 hit day. Carter Blakeman also picked up 3 hits, all doubles and drove in 3. Jake Downey and Silas Moore also had multiple hits for the Tops.
Game 2 W 14-9
The second game was anything but pretty as the Tops fell behind 9-4 after three innings, but they roared back scoring four in the 4th and 5 in the 6th to preserved the winning streak. Gavin Mangus picked up the win for the Tops, going the final 3 and 2/3, not giving up any runs or hits and striking out 3. At the plate, red-hot Mason Koons went 5 for 6 with 3 RBI's. Jake Downey added 3 RBI's and Kyle Koehler and Carter Gast each chipped in with 2.
The Tops now sit at 26-8 overall and 19-1 in the OCCAC. They have a four game set with 3rd place Bryant and Stratton left on the schedule before the post season.
