Tri-C Baseball defeats U. of Mt. Union (JV), 9-4
Behind a strong starting pitching performance by Riley McElwain, the Tops defeated the Purple Raiders, 9-4 Tuesday evening at Ron Mottl Field. McElwain went 5 2/3, scattering 7 hits allowing only 2 runs and striking out 8. Tops pitching struck out 15 Mt. Union batters in the game with Trent Barstow, Ricardo Medrano and Jackson Judy all taking their turns.
At the plate, Braden Reed continued his outstanding season with 3 hits including 2 doubles while driving in 3. Jackson Judy got the start at first base and went 3 for 3 on the day. Connor Bozak was the other Tops with multiple hits on the day going 2 for 4.
Tri-C moves to 13-7 on the season with a 5 game winning streak and will host Clark State on Friday at Ron Mottl Field with game times set for 1 pm and 3 pm and then travel to Clark State (game being played at Wright State's Nieschwitz Stadium) for another double header. They will also be in action next Monday as they will travel to Lakeland for a rematch with the Lakers after sweeping them at home last Sunday in two tight games.
