Fourth Quarter Collapse to Owens CC Ends Triceratops Three-Game Winning Streak
Despite holding an eight-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and playing with determination throughout, the Tri-C Triceratops ultimately fell to the Owens Express 84-79 on January 31, 2026. The loss drops the Triceratops to 15-6 on the season and ends Cuyahoga Community College's three-game winning streak.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Triceratops were leading the Express 19-16 and were able to maintain a narrow lead heading into half, despite being outscored by Owens 21-20 in the second frame. Coming out of halftime, the Triceratops looked like they were putting the Express away, outscoring the Express 26-20 and giving the Triceratops the lead heading into the final frame. However, the Express were red-hot from the perimeter throughout the contest, shooting 50.0 percent from three-point range, which helped spark a blowout 27-14 fourth quarter run and ultimately sealed the Triceratops' fate.
Leading the charge for the Triceratops was star freshman La'Nia Moore, who finished the game with a game-high 29 points on 57.9 percent shooting and 11 rebounds. Moore tied a career-best in free throws made, connecting on seven attempts from the line, and also tied her second-highest scoring performance on the season. Joining Moore in double-digit scoring were Jayleena Bauzo (10), Tylia Parker (10), and Hayley Stoddard (12), supporting Moore's offensive dominance and further showcasing the team-led effort that has exemplified Tri-C's scoring attack throughout this season.
