WBK: Tops Route Titans, will play for OCCAC Title!

The Tri-C Women's Basketball team defeated the Terra State Titans on Saturday afternoon at the Eastern Campus.  It was Alumni Day and the Tops did not disappoint their fans and alum as they executed on all cylinders to route the Titans, 80-39.

Quimari Shelton continued her dominant play with an all around outstanding game.  She had 24 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and did not turn the ball over.  A big spark for the Tops was Zarina Fader who came off the bench to hit 4 of 7 from three point range and 8 of 12 overall to finish with 20 points.  Briana Bunkley was the other Top in double digit scoring with 10 points.  Marybella Dunlap once again dominated the boards with 13 rebounds while Dariah Kirksey carded 8 assists to lead the team.

With this win, the team moves to 17-9 overall but more importantly, 8-3 in OCCAC play and puts them in a tie for first place.  The Tops are tied with Lakeland (8-3) with Edison (7-3) just a half game behind.  Edison plays Clark State on Wednesday and then will match up with Lakeland on Saturday afternoon.  What this means for the Tops is that next Saturday at Metro Campus at 3 pm they will play for at least a share of the OCCAC Title and depending on what happens they could be outright champions. The Tops have not won the conference since 1991!

The game is part of a Men's and Women's Doubleheader with Men starting at 1 pm and women to follow at 3 pm.  It will also be sophomore day.  Admission is free.
