WBK: Tops defeat Chargers, move into tie for 1st with 2 games to go

Quamari Shelton led the Tops in scoring with 26 and helped Tri-C to improve to 17-9 (7-3 in conference) with their second win over division leader Edison State. The Tops worked through adversity, and a slow start trailing by 6 at the break but a huge 2nd half allowed them to come away with a much-needed victory.

Shelton was the only Tops player in double digits; however, she was NOT the only contributor. Briana Bunkley (7 points 5 assists), Marybella Dunlap with 8 points and 11 rebounds also were key contributors and in the second half the team defense was outstanding. Shelton also collected 13 rebounds (7 offensively) and committed zero turnovers in her 29 minutes. 

The Tops forced 19 turnovers and captured 7 steals. The team is now poised to clinch a top three finish and a spot in the NJCAA Region XII tournament with 2 games remaining.  The team also has a chance to capture its first league title in 33 years!
