WBK: Tops Fall at Home to Hawks

The Tri-C Women's Basketball team dropped a hard fight contest against the Hawks from Hocking on 31 Jan 2024 by a score 59-48. The Tops looked sharp during the first quarter taking a 13-6 lead but squandered the lead and headed into the break with the score tied at 23.

Tori Smith 17 pts, 11 rebs and Qulmari Shelton 13 pts and 11 reb led the way once again with timely buckets, assist and rebounds. The effort was there but the achilles heel of turnovers reared its head and cost the Lady Tops a conference victory.

With a half-time knotted at 23. The second half was nip-n-tuck but the turnovers begin to catch up and eventually doom the Tops. The Tops turned the ball over 20 times compared to five for Hawks. The Lady Tops shot 34% from the field and were the victims of 11 steals.

The Tops now sit at 12-8 and 3-2 in OCCAC play and are in third place and will need to remain in the Top 3 to punch their ticket to the regional tournament.

The Tops will travel to Clark State on Saturday and then return to their home floor Saturday afternoon (17 Feb) when they square off against the Express of Owens College at the East Gym. Admission is free come support the TOPS!!!
