The Tri-C Women's basketball team fell to the Clark State Eagles on Saturday in a highly competitive defensive match up. The first quarter was very even with the Eagles holding a 13-10 advantage after one. However, Clark State's defense held the Tops to just 5 second quarter points and the teams went to the locker rooms with Clark leading 23-15.
The third quarter looked like a repeat of the second quarter as Clark again held the Tops to single digits (6) in scoring and had what seemed to be a comfortable 33-21 lead after 3 quarters. The Tops fueled on by a special appearance of the Warrensville Heights band, made a furious run, scoring 15 in the 4th quarter but ran out of time and fell to the Eagles, 42-36.
Tri-C was led by Tori Smith with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Dariah Kirksey chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Tri-C falls to 0-6 in OCCAC play and 8-11 overall. The Tops will next be in action next Saturday as they will host Edison Community College at 1 pm at the Eastern Campus.
