Miliken's five RBIs lead Tri-C softball to split against Edison State
PARMA, Ohio (athletics.tri-c.edu) – A hot stick from freshman outfielder Josi Miliken pushed the Cuyahoga Community College (20-5, 11-1 OCCAC) softball team to a one-to-one series split against the Edison State Chargers (15-6, 5-3 OCCAC), April 11.
The visiting Chargers took game one behind an offensive surge, winning 10-3. Big outputs in the fourth (five runs) and sixth (four runs) innings by Edison State were too much for the Triceratops to battle back from. The game one loss was Tri-C's first of the season in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference action.
Game two saw a reversal of fortunes, with the Triceratops plating eight runs of their own in a thrilling 8-6 victory. A balanced attack pushed Tri-C forward, with three hitters – Isabelle Kepple (So./Miamisburg, OH), Josi Miliken (Fr./Beloit, OH), and Jayliana Wilt (Fr./Youngstown, OH) – notching multiple RBIs.
Miliken was the engine driving the Tri-C offense with four hits, five RBIs, and three runs scored in just six plate appearances across the series. On the mound, pitcher Julee Phillips (So./Cuyahoga Falls, OH) dazzled again, spinning a series line of 8.1 innings pitched, 10 hits allowed, two earned runs allowed, four walks, and seven strikeouts.
