Tri-C Softball Sweeps Owens

The Triceratops softball team opened up OCCAC Play with a sweep of Owens Community College on Sunday at the Tri-C Western Campus.

In game 1, it was once again the masterful pitching of Hallie Mullett that led the Tops to victory as she went 7 innings giving up only 6 hits and 3 runs while striking out 9.  She did not walk a batter.  At the plate the Tops made their 7 hits count as Cecilia Stephens hit a leadoff homerun and Oliva Lopez, McKenna Miller and Abbie Gaynor all had extra base hits on the day.  Lopez had 3 RBI's for the Tops.

In game 2, the Tops scored early and often to take the 5 inning sweep, 11-3.  Lyndsey Baglia was on the mound and went all 5 innings for the win.  She struck out 6 and walked only 1.  At the plate, Stephens continued her hot streak as she swatted two more hits including a triple and scored 3 runs.  Also having multiple hits for the Tops were: Reis Johnson, Maddie Brockman and Maya Sheller.  Mckenna Miller had 3 RBI's for the Tops and Brockman had 2.  Extra basehits were contributed by Nicole Goode (2B) and triples by Stephens and Brockman.
