Bio
Coach Nixon is a veteran of the OCCAC men’s basketball coaching ranks. He was previously an assistant at Tri-C under the tutelage of former men’s basketball coach, Michael Duncan. Most recently, he was the assistant coach at Lakeland CC and has also been at Bryant and Stratton, West Virginia State University, Lourdes University and Heidelberg University, where he earned a Master’s in Education. Aaron is a Cleveland native, having attended Cleveland Heights High School. He attended Columbus State Community College and was the 2004 OCCAC Player of the Year, 3rd Team All American NJCAA Division II and named as Sporting News #1 Junior College prospect before transferring to San Bernardino Valley College where he received his Associates Degree in Communications. In his time at San Bernadino, he was named as the conference MVP as well as a 2nd Team All American. This propelled him to earn a scholarship to compete for Division I Long Beach State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in African American Studies. At LBSU, he was a five-time Player of the Week in the Big West Conference, 6th in conference history in scoring in a season (601 pts), the 2007 Big West Player of the Year and a Division I All American Honorable Mention. From 2007-2010, Aaron played both overseas as well as in the G-League before dedicating full time to his coaching career and his professional career working in the mental health industry. Aaron has two children, Chace (11) and Carter (6)..
